November is here, and our friends from afar are returning to our Sun Lakes communities for the winter season. Annual membership renewals to our Cottonwood Lady Niners are rolling in, and we are tickled to see several new faces joining our group! If you are interested in a fun and social nine hole golf league, how about joining the Cottonwood Lady Niners! We golf Thursday afternoons at the 1 p.m. shotgun start, playing both fun games and play-your-own rounds of nine holes and alternating between the front and back nine of the Cottonwood golf course. We welcome golfers of all abilities and skill levels, and ladies from all phases of Sun Lakes are encouraged to check us out. After golf we enjoy social time on the restaurant patio, rehashing the day’s game and making new friendships. Want to try us out? We are offering interested ladies an opportunity to join us with a “test drive” one time trial day where you can play with our group for just your green fees without paying the membership and annual golf fee. Interested? Email president Renee Seifert at cwladyniners@gmail.com for more details.
As we welcome back our returning snowbirds, here’s a reminder that our first day of play will be Nov. 12, not Nov. 5, due to delayed seeding of the Cottonwood golf course. The game of the day will be determined at the monthly board meeting so please refer to the Calendar and Results tab on our website (cottonwoodnine@azgolf.org) for the latest update. Remember we will be using the Golf Genius app to record our scores—take a minute and add the app to your phones. It’s free! If you haven’t done so already, please renew your annual membership on the Niner’s website: cottonwoodnine.azgolf.org. For members who don’t pay the annual golf course membership fee, our nine hole rate is as follows:
November/December—$45; January to March—$60; April—$45; May—$35
When registered you will receive a request to sign up for league play via an email from our club game guru Sue Lawless. You can accept or opt out of the invitation in the email. You should get notification of who is in your foursome and what hole you’ll be starting on a day or two before golf on Thursdays. We meet up on the pro shop patio at 12:30 p.m. before the shotgun start for brief league updates—bring a quarter for the chip-in prize and $2 50/50 chances.
When you have a chance, check our website for the latest updates from our league president, information for our special golf days, pictures, and links for you to explore. Check out the weekly games on the calendar, dates for our meetings and luncheons, articles in the Splash, and so much more. Take a few minutes to see what’s new! cottonwoodnine.azgolf.org.
