Laughter Is the Best Medicine
Andrea Hummel
Psst! Want to have a good laugh? Like, a hold your sides and guffaw laugh?
A series of short, hilarious vignettes following LAFF’s upcoming production of The Key To A Good Night’s Sleep should do the trick of finding that old funny bone.
Written by Howard Hummel, these never-before-seen comedy sketches are each about five to 10 minutes long and sometimes feature Hummel and his ever-patient wife, Andrea Hummel. The sketches will all be directed by Hummel. If you remember the Wally and Myrtle Wood skits, you are familiar with Hummel’s comedic efforts. Twelve Angry Jurors, directed by Howard Hummel, was also a well-received sample of Hummel’s work.
Some of the comedy sketch titles will be: Getting Lost in Sun Lakes, Continually Being On Hold When Calling Your Doctor, and Ordering A Baby From Amazon. All of the sketches will feature cast members of The Key To A Good Night’s Sleep and will address those problematic sleep issues. These far-out comedy sketches will be performed by members of LAFF and are designed to give you a, well, LAFF!
Watch for ticket sales to start for the matinee shows on Jan. 23 and 24. Your funny bone will thank you!
Having Trouble Sleeping at Night? LAFF’s “The Key To A Good Night’s Sleep!” Can Help!
Carol Horowitz
While the theme of this unbelievably humorous original musical comedy (as well as the hysterically funny short vignettes that follow the play) all suggest what the real key to a good night’s sleep actually is, …the truth is that you’ll want to stay awake to not miss a moment of these gut-busting, hilarious performances!
First performed 15 years ago to rave reviews, The Key To A Good Night’s Sleep will keep you LAFFing until your cheeks hurt with a solid 45 minutes of up-roaring hilarity! You’ll also LAFF your head off at each of the 5– to 10–minutes–long comedy sketches, truly funny vignettes, that also offer their own take-on solutions for solving this universal dilemma!
If you recall, LAFF cast members started out as food items and ingredients who were auditioning for the opening of a delicatessen in A Deli Line! You’ll never in a million years guess this one!
Performed by your friends and neighbors from throughout Sun Lakes and nearby communities, tickets will go on sale for only $20 per person in December for the two matinees starting at
2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Jan. 24! Please mark your calendars! You’ll appreciate the convenience and comfortable seating of the Chapel for All Faiths (across the parking lot from the Sun Lakes Country Club) where the LAFFter from our performances may be heard for blocks around!
Although LAFF (Laughter and Friendship Forever) is an interfaith organization that was created to use the arts (art, music, dance, and especially theater) to spread cultural understanding and to share LAFFter and camaraderie throughout all of Sun Lakes, in reality, the only thing religious in our activities and performances is that we are religious about providing wonderful opportunities to build friendships, develop new skills in the arts, and offer our community affordable fun and LAFFter-filled entertainment!
For more information or to learn how you can LAFF with us as a performer, backstage or tech crew, or audience, please contact Carol Horowitz at horowitz@windstream.net.
