Sun Lakes United Methodist Church will again host a series of free summer programs on Tuesday evenings in June and July. Topics vary from light and entertaining to more serious and important to our community. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
Each Tuesday event will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Lindsay Hall at Sun Lakes UMC. The programs will last an hour or so and no reservations are required. Just mark your calendar and plan to come!
Here is the June lineup:
June 9 – Sex Trafficking – Human trafficking is the fastest growing and second largest criminal industry in the world today. Presenter Beth Jacobs is a survivor of child sex trafficking who has been working with victims for 15 years and conducting workshops and presentations throughout the U.S.
June 16 – Bites and Stings of the Sonoran Desert – Ann-Marie Krueger, a retired R.N., worked in the Banner Good Samaritan Poison and Drug Center. She will talk about the spiders, snakes, scorpions and other denizens of the Sonoran Desert – how to avoid them and how to deal with their toxic and sometimes fatal attacks.
June 23 – The Art of Storytelling – Have you noticed that some people can tell a story (or a joke) that makes it enjoyable to listen to every word? Our presenter, Rev. Doug Bland, is on the Adjunct Faculty of the South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute, where he teaches the art of storytelling.
June 30 – China – China’s history dates back as far as the earliest civilizations. Roger Warren is a world traveler who has explored places on three continents – most recently China. An entertaining speaker, Roger will inform us about the country that now has the largest and one of the most complex economies in the world.
The remainder of our Tuesday Nights Together series, to be held in July, will appear in the July Splash. If you have any questions about the series, please call Sun Lakes United Methodist Church at 480-895-8766. We are located at 9248 E. Riggs Road in Sun Lakes.
