The Agave Quilters of Sun Lakes are planning an exciting kick-off meeting for the new season. The special guest speaker for the September meeting is Carolyn Woods of Totally Tidy, a well-known and respected leader in the field of home and hobby/craft organization. Mrs. Woods started her own company several years ago and has a great deal of experience in helping quilters organize their sewing rooms and fabric stash. To Carolyn, “Getting organized means storing and arranging your stuff so that the things that you use and love are convenient and accessible when you need them. It also means learning techniques and starting new habits to keep it that way.” Carolyn has also written a wonderful book entitled Organizing Solutions for Every Quilter, full of inexpensive ideas for helping quilters achieve a quilting/sewing space where they can work with ease, and not waste time looking for that something you know you have, but can’t find right now. Carolyn has worked with several quilting greats like Alex Anderson and Diana McClun, teaching them fun and creative ways to sort and store their impressive stash of fabric and notions.

Carolyn also believes that if you can “identify what’s causing the clutter, you can learn how to turn your sewing space, no matter what the size, into to a more creative zone where you will find the time to do what you love best which is, of course, quilt! Every quilter can use some of this advice, so please join us on September 2 for our kick-off meeting at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakwood Ballroom of the Oakwood Country Club. At the meeting Agave will announce their new 2015-16 officers, introduce all the new programs and plans for the coming year, including guest teachers/classes, and, of course, the plans for the 2016 Agave Quilt Show!

Two important things to remember: keep working on your 24 inch by 24 inch President’s Challenge small quilt: Black and White and Red All Over (plus, other colors if you wish) and we really, really need you as volunteers in a number of areas. See you in September!
