The Sun Lakes Democratic Club (SLDC) is starting off the new year with a variety of topics and speakers ranging from legislative updates and climate to candidates running for local, county, and statewide office.
Candidates attending the Jan. 8 meeting in the Navajo Room at the Sun Lakes Country Club will include Brandy Reese, a forensic scientist and a lifelong education advocate running for the LD 13 House of Representatives spot being vacated at the end of the current term by Representative Jennifer Pawlik’s decision not to seek re-election.
Other candidates will include Joel Navarro, a long-time public servant as a firefighter/paramedic with the Phoenix Fire Department and Tempe City Council person, running for the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, District 1, and Zenya Pruzhanovsky, a Chandler resident and teacher running for the Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) board.
Speakers at the Jan. 8 membership meeting will feature Sandy Whitley from the Citizens Climate Lobby, a climate change organization. She will discuss the options brought about by the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022.
SLDC members will also hear from Representative Pawlik who will update everyone on the opening day of the legislature and what to expect this session.
SLDC is made up of like-minded individuals who are part of over 2,500 registered Democrats throughout the Sun Lakes area promoting an Arizona that works for everyone. We invite you to join us at 6:30 p.m. for a social hour, with the meeting starting at 7 p.m. on Jan. 8 in the Navajo Room at the Sun Lakes Country Club at 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N, Sun Lakes.
We also invite you to our First Friday Coffee at Kneaders on Friday, Jan. 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. Kneaders is located at 1090 W. Queen Creek Road (Queen Creek and Alma School) in Chandler.
