Making sure to follow the COVID safety guidelines, the IWLN celebrated the holidays on Dec. 9, with a special golf event. Although our usual lovely holiday luncheon was canceled this year, the Lady Niners enjoyed games and surprises on a beautiful day at Ironwood Golf Club. A huge thank you to Carol Knack, Deb Burns, and Judy Thompson for making this day festive and fun.

A warm welcome to the following new members: Pam Matassarin, Barb Johnson, Val Crump, Sue Lawless, Patsy Siegismund, Vicki Carmichael, Lori Fleischer, Gladys Chirhart, Connie White, Corrine Gresen. Ladies, please enjoy the golf, the competition, and the camaraderie afforded to you as a member of the Ironwood Lady Niners.

With the new year 2021 comes the nomination of new officers. Judy Thompson, returning from a year of retirement, has agreed to be our new president. Shirley Moore will be the vice president, serving with Lynn Matassarin as secretary, and Rachel Enroe as treasurer. Thank you for your dedication to the IWLN.

A special note of gratitude goes to Rachel Enloe who stepped up to be our interim president when the position was vacated in early fall. Rachel also continued as our treasurer during this time, all while recuperating from a serious health issue. Saying thank you does not seem enough.

The two league players who will represent the IWLN at the State Medallion Tournament are Deb Burns for lowest gross score, and Diane Coughlin for low net score. The tournament will be on Saturday, Jan. 9, at PebbleCreek Golf Course. Congratulations and good luck!

As always, the IWLN have some extremely talented golfers. On Nov. 11, we had three ladies get chip ins which resulted in birdies. Congratulations to Pam Matassarin, Colleen Duke, and Janis Gustafson. A few weeks later, Shirley Moore had a birdie, and Ann Gavin and Vicki Mendenhall had chip ins, while Deborah Greenwood won an award for closest to the pin. Keep those good shots coming, ladies!
