Welcome to a new year, 2026—a fresh chance to reimagine how you could begin or expand your artistic talents. Perhaps you have been thinking about getting back into painting or another art form, something you used to enjoy. There always seems to be a reason that you don’t act on your desires. Well, just imagine that there was a place or group that is close to home, meets weekly all year round, has no cost or obligations to join, and has a friendly group of artists who enjoy sharing and inspiring each other. Well, the Desert Artists Club (DAC) right here in Sun Lakes is just that, and perhaps what you were imagining and hoping to find.
As we begin another new year, perhaps we can all embark on a journey to discover just what we can create when we allow ourselves to begin again, continue to learn and grow in self-confidence, and let go of those fears of imperfection that prevent us from moving forward. So, imagine it, and then take action to allow it to unfold. Come and check out our club, meet some of our artists, and give yourself a creative opportunity that will uplift and expand your year ahead. Remember, art is a journey, and creating with fellow artists is encouraging, fun, and inspiring.
The DAC meets each Tuesday, year round, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Ceramics Room (A-8) in Cottonwood, across from the library in the courtyard. Any resident of Sun Lakes in any of the three HOAs is eligible to join. We are a casual club with no dues or regular meetings. We do have occasional potluck socials and “Share Your Art” times where we can bring our art to display. We have a library of books and instructional materials that members can borrow.
If you are new to Sun Lakes or have any questions, you can ask any member when you visit or email me, Sue Sindelar, at sue.sindelar@gmail.com or call and leave a voice mail at 602-717-8930. I will get back to you.
