Kenny Stoves
Naomi Bryson
After Kenny Stoves volunteered for the first two requests for help, the members in attendance at the African American Association of Sun Lakes (AAASL) meeting got the message that he wanted to get involved in the club in a meaningful way. Kenney believes that the organization educates others about African American history and brings all races together. The African American Association of Sun Lakes is an organization that brings together a group of individuals residing in Sun Lakes, Ariz., and within a 100-mile radius of Sun Lakes who share similar interests in recreation and social interaction. Rosetta Sheer is the current president of AAASL.
Kenny serves on the committee to recommend revisions to the website for economic efficiency. He finds this a challenging role but is excited to make a contribution. He finds that his previous education (master’s in business administration) and work experiences as (retired) executive administrator in the U.S. Air Force and operations management in warehouse and logistics, to be helpful. He recently retired as supervisor of the IronOaks Security Unit in Sun Lakes.
Kenny Stoves, age 64, is divorced and ready to date again. He is the proud father of two children and grandfather of four. He is pleased that the children and grandchildren live near his current residence in Ocotillo. He loves the Ocotillo/Sun Lakes area and once lived in Palo Verde. His siblings (two brothers and a sister) live in Florida.
When asked about his bucket list, Kenny responded excitedly that he is making plans to visit the Netherlands in Europe and Portugal in March and plans to visit Bali, Indonesia, and Thailand (Asia) in May. He recently took a cruise, which afforded him opportunities to visit some of the Caribbean Islands, including St. Thomas and St. Croix.
What else does Kenny do for fun? He plays golf, with a respectable handicap, and collects world paper money. He loves helping other people and wants to make new friends. He has many “handyman” skills and provides them, without costs, to his friends. Kenny saw the need for each member to have a copy of the organization’s bylaws, and he made copies for all members.
He is considered fastidious in dress and in his surroundings by his own admission. He also thinks that he is a good cook. Jokingly, Kenny said that he would cook for the AAASL Jazz in the Park event that is scheduled for April 18. Wow! If you want to join Kenny in sharing your energy within a great organization, visit the website at AAASL.club and join the club.
