As President and CEO of AZBio, Joan Koerber-Walker works on behalf of the Arizona Bioscience and Medical Technology Industry to support the growth of the industry, its members and our community on the local and national level. She will be speaking to the Southeast Valley Branch of AAUW about the challenges and opportunities for girls in the bioscience industry and her work with teens developing excitement and confidence among girls interested in pursuing careers in science.
The Arizona BioIndustry Association (AZBio) serves as the unified voice of the bioscience industry in Arizona. AZBio strives to make Arizona a place where bioscience organizations can grow and succeed. It accomplishes this by creating a forum for the bioscience community to join together, educating policy makers and the public, influencing public policy, and advancing the economic interests of individual organizations as well as the sector as a whole. Ms. Koerber-Walker serves as Arizona’s rep to the State Medical Technology Alliance, the Council of State Bioscience Associations, and the Coalition of State Bioscience Institutes. She also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Opportunity Through Entrepreneurship Foundation, on the Board of Advisors to CellTrust, Inc. and as Chairman of CorePurpose, Inc.
Joan Koerber-Walker has been recognized as a Most Admired Leader by the Phoenix Business Journal (2015), in the pages of AZBusiness Leaders (2013, 2014 and 2015), Most Influential Women in Arizona Business (2014) and is a two-time national finalist for the Stevie Award which recognizes the work of women in business.
Since 1881, The American Association of University women (AAUW) advances equality for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. AAUW has a nationwide network of more than 100,000 members and donors, 1,000 branches and 600 college/university institutional partners.
