The American Association of University Women has many educational and social activities. One of these is Sisters of Art. Committee Chairperson Sharon Gale started this program three years ago and it has become very popular with the AAUW members.

Once a month members meet at Sharon’s house and watch a DVD lecture presented by either Professor William Kloss or Professor Richard Brettell that teach Art History and Art Appreciation. They are associated with The Teaching Company, The Great Courses. The meeting in November presented paintings by Sandro Botticelli, Andrea Mantegna and Giovanni Bellini.

After a lively discussion Sharon conducted an art class that involved hands on painting by the members. The focus was on color and texture. The final results were exciting and  appreciated by all.
