AAUW Welcomes Newly Elected Officers

The AAUW (American Association of University Women) Southeast Valley Branch elected its board to serve during the upcoming year. Newly elected officers include:

* Co-President Senior: Beth Zdeblick

* Advisor: Mary Humecke

* Vice President of Communications: Julia McKee-Ostos

* Vice President of Finance: Cathy Margolin

* Vice President of Membership: Corrine Gresen

* Vice President of Programs: Penny Rings

* Vice President of Public Policy: Ellie Watland

* Board Secretary: Lura Dymond

These volunteers and all branch members will continue the branch’s commitment to young girls and women through various programs and activities in the coming year, including annual events such as the holiday fundraising luncheon, the annual scholarship raffle, and participation in AAUW’s statewide annual Legislative Day at the State Capitol.

Members also have a chance to expand their horizons and nurture friendships through monthly interest groups within the branch. Regular activities include Great Decisions, a discussion group focused on foreign affairs; book clubs; a bridge group; a hands-on art group; and lunch and dinner groups.

Serving Chandler, Gilbert, and Sun Lakes, the Southeast Valley Branch members meet in Sun Lakes monthly from October through April.

AAUW is a diverse group that encourages participation by those who wish to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, philanthropy, and research. It supports education and legislation impacting girls and women.

AAUW is a national organization open to all graduates holding an associate or equivalent, baccalaureate, or higher degree from a qualified educational institution. There are more than 170,000 members across 1,000 local branches. The Southeast Valley Branch of AAUW was chartered in 1989.
