Aero Club heads to Ryan Field, ends up at Marana Airport

Five aircraft carrying 11 Sun Lakes Aero Club (SLAC) members headed for Ryan Field west of Tucson for breakfast December 9, but ended up at Marana when they learned the restaurant at Ryan Field was closed.

Pilots and their passengers: Tom Howard in his Cessna 180 with passengers Doc Bricco and Vince Sciberras; Ken Carpenter in his Grumman AA-1B with passenger Warren Wallace; Doug Whittaker in his Cessna 172 with passengers Hank Beliema and Red Boyles; Paul Beeks in his Bellance Cruismaster; and Gary Vacin in his Grumman AA1 with passenger J. R. Scheidereiter.

This was the club’s first fly-in breakfast for 2016-17. A trip to Lake Havasu City was planned for later this month. SLAC sponsors monthly breakfast fly-ins or field trips between December and April.
