The December celebrations are finally here and it is time for the Agave Quilt Guild to host their annual Holiday Luncheon. This wonderful catered event will be held in the spacious Iron Oaks Ballroom on December 2 starting at 11:00 a.m. with a no host cash bar meet and greet. Lunch will be served at noon. The hospitality committee has planned some delightful entertainment for the dessert portion, and, of course, there are wonderful table centerpieces and table favors for all who attend. This is a reservation only event, so please remember to bring your ticket for admission to the luncheon. Also, please remember to wear your name tag. Additionally, the holiday luncheon is the perfect time to pay your dues of $20 for the 2016 year, as this is the last time to pay, and be included in the 2016 Agave Membership Directory.

Our community service committee (headed by Sherri Tanner and Jean Larson), with the help of many of our members, recently completed over 100 children’s quilts which were donated to smaller Arizona Ho

spitals that receive no quilts from other groups. These little comfort quilts bring much joy to the sick or injured children and remain theirs forever. Please help us in this endeavor by picking up one of the many kits, complete a quilt or quilt top and return it to a future meeting.

President Faith Bragg received several small quilt challenge quilts recently and is looking forward to the January meeting when hopefully many more will be turned in. This year’s theme is “Black and white and red allover” with all other colors allowed. If you have not started on your entry, there is still time before the January 15 deadline. Remember that this is a donation to the April 2, 2016 Quilt Show and must fit in a 24” by 24” square. Remember also, that the top three as voted on by the entire membership in February, win significant prize money!

President Faith also reminds all of Agave that our meeting place is moving to the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club with the January 6 1:00 p.m. meeting and that beginning with the January meeting, all guests will be charged a $5 fee to help cover the costs of the speaker. Join us in January at the new meeting place for a fun afternoon.
