December and the holiday season has finally arrived and the Agave Quilt Guild will hold their annual Holiday Party on the first Wednesday of December. All of the available tickets have already been sold and everyone is looking forward to a fabulous lunch at the Oakwood Ballroom. Agave says thank you to hospitality coordinators Jeanette Capizzo, Connie Kolb and Sandy Klouda and their committee for all the hard work to make the party a complete success. There were holiday favors for everyone and a wonderful center piece for a special someone at each table. December is also the last month for renewal of your Agave membership; dues of $20 a year, in time to be in the printed 2015 Directory, which is given out each year in January. Anyone with an interest in quilting is urged to join, as we have all kinds of special interest and friendship groups. Our regular meeting day is the first Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakwood Ballroom. Also, each year we have a great no cost Quilt Show the last Saturday in March. This year for the first time our show will be held at Oakwood in the Ballroom where we meet each month. Agave has great classes, guest presenters and workshops, including a special lecture in January by local quilting celebrity Barbara Polson. Barbara will be talking to Agave on January 7 about using old or antique linens in quilts in new and creative ways. Our November presenter, Alyssa Lichner, was well received and her lecture/trunk show on modern quilting was very informative. Agave President Faith Bragg reminds all members that the President’s Challenge project is due at the January meeting. This year’s theme is “Holidays and Celebrations,” and it is not too late to design something to donate. Remember, when signing up for anything, Agave only accepts checks for classes, membership or any other fee.
