Anglers are back to fishing

Dan Hall

The Anglers are starting the derbies again. The fishing is at Sun Lakes Country Club Lake 6; Lake 6 is just behind the pitch and put golf course behind the SLCC club house. The fishing dates are March 24, 25, 26, 30 and 31 with the school kids in the area. We start around 9:00 a.m. and fish until 11:00 a.m.

The Angler’s last fishing day in the spring is the ever popular Grandparent’s Derby. The Grandparent’s derby will be on April 4. This is the Saturday before Easter. Grandparents in all of Sun Lakes are invited to bring their grandchildren. A homeowner’s card will get you registered. The club furnishes all the equipment and bait if you do not have your own. They will most likely catch catfish and an occasional bass. There will be many prizes. Are members are also available for some help getting started as needed.

We support the fishing activities by sponsoring a Flea Market in the SLCC parking lot on the third Saturday of the month. The official hours are 6:00-10:00 a.m. If you would like to have a vendor’s spot stop by the SLCC desk and signup. The fee is $5. The Anglers offerings come from donations. Don Herring is available to arrange drop off or pick up by calling 480-802-9320. Small items are great but clothes don’t do well. We also receive support from a number of local businesses and clubs.

We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Mirror Room SLCC at 7:00 p.m. New members are welcome and like all clubs needed. You will find putting a smile on a youngsters face a rewarding experience.
