Anglers looking forward to spring fishing

Dan Hall

We exist to offer grade school youngsters a chance to have a day doing something that many have never done. They get to meet a new adult that has taken time to help them have a new and fun experience. Please join us. We would like/need you to join the Club. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Mirror Room SLCC at 7:00 p.m. The next meeting will be February 6. See you there; ladies welcome.

The next derbies will be starting in March with two schools booked already. All you grandparents don’t forget the Grandparent Derby. It will be, as always, on the Saturday before Easter. Put it on your calendar now. All you need, grandparent, is a homeowner’s card and a fisher person or persons. The club will furnish the rest. You may bring your own equipment if you wish.

To fund the fishing trips for the kids, the Anglers sponsor and sell items at the flea market held on the 3rd Saturday of the month (February 18) at the SLCC parking lot. You will find great bargains. The hours are 7:00-11:00 a.m. Donations to the Anglers are sold, and the proceeds go to support the fishing outings we sponsor. We need smallish items to sell. For donations, call Don Herring at 480-802-9320 for drop-off or pick-up. For a booth of your own at the flea market, contact the SLCC office at the clubhouse. Only a $5.00 fee gets you a spot.

The March fishing dates will be in the March Splash. Please watch closely and read your Splash as soon as it arrives. You do not need to be a member to help. An explanation of how it works will also be in the March Splash. Doing something you already like to do while helping a youngster to do and learn something new to them is fun. Our catfish are cooperative most of the time.
