On February 19, Sun Lakes Duplicate Bridge Club President Jim Utter presented the club’s four annual awards. The club is affiliated with the American Contract Bridge League, has over 400 members and holds games on four days each week covering all skill levels. Games are held at the Risen Savior Lutheran Church on Alma School Road. The prestigious Don Krogh service award was awarded by the club’s Board to Maria Davis and Anne Newman for their superlative efforts in operating the club’s weekly newcomers’ game which involves directing, coaching and teaching. The other three trophies are awarded to “non-expert” players who earned the most masterpoints in their specific skill ranges. 2018 winners were Jim Wart (advanced), Rick Boyd (advanced intermediate) and Cheryl Verlander (intermediate).
