Sun Lakes Rotary Club welcomed a group of Chorale members on the evening of December 9 in the Navajo Room of Sun Lakes Country Club. Singers presented popular carols, introduced two duet groups (Beverly Borneman and Martha Wood; Jim Alvar and Jack Perin) and led an audience sing-along.
On December 11, Director Cris Evans’ 75-member group presented its annual Holiday Concert at the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, featuring a variety of songs, performing groups, and instrumentalists. The concert opened to the resounding energies of the Gloria Fanfare and closed with the peacefully familiar The First Noel. Among other program items, the tenors, baritones and basses presented their musical gift of a hearty rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
The evening’s featured and guest performers included Vicki Dekin and Mary Sieben on flute; Parker Crouse on clarinet; soprano soloists Joan Beery, Tenni Annen and Cathy Eliott; tenor soloist Will Elliott, as well as the two above-cited duet groups. Others responsible for the success of the evening were Accompanist Janice Manning, Percussionist B J Van Noy and Performance Coordinator Bart Evans. Following the enthusiastically received program, singers greeted their audience at the church entrance.
The Chorale will present its annual Spring Concert on Thursday, March 19, 2015. For more information and ticket sources, visit www.sunlakeschorale.com and watch for advance publicity in newspaper sources.
