Blackwood Brothers become New Legacy?!

Doug Ross

Rick Price began his now 40-year career in gospel music being mentored by Cecil Blackwood. Rick was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame with the Grammy and Dove award winning group.

In 2017, Rick made the decision to rename Blackwood Legacy to New Legacy Project, believing that God was speaking into the ministry in a new way. He felt he should let go of the old name, Blackwood. Rick says, “While honored to have carried it forward these many years, it is time to take up the new mantle God has for us. It can no longer be just about the music or the name of one family, as wonderful as they were in the history of Southern Gospel music.”

New Legacy Project is continuing on with the same anointed music, the same phenomenal sound, the same great men of God, and the same amazing ministry. Known for their flawless harmonies, homespun humor and impeccable delivery, the group continues to tour the U.S., ministering wherever God opens the door.

They return to Sun Lakes Community Church by popular demand—a capacity crowd one year ago told us Sun Lakes wanted more! Admission is free. An offering for New Legacy will be received. The concert is Friday, Dec. 13, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. in the Sun Lakes Chapel, across from the Sun Lakes Country Club.

Then on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 5:30 p.m., the Sun Lakes Community Church Choir, under the direction of our own Director of Music Linda Yarborough, will present “When Earth Received Her King.”

A special Christmas Eve service is planned for Tuesday evening, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. Pastor Mitch McDonald will share as on this “Silent Night” we reflect on the “Joy (He brought) to the World,” on that “Holy Night”! This special service will be held in the Sun Lakes Chapel, across from the Sun Lakes Country Club.

Sun Lakes Community Church is an interdenominational group of believers that meets each Sunday morning in the Sun Lakes Chapel. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call our office at 480-895-9147.
