Books, Books, Books—A Book Review

K.E., Librarian

How do you keep track of the books you’ve read? Some of our library guests say they keep track in a notebook—quite an undertaking over the years. Maybe you, too, have a list in a notebook of all the books you’ve read, by date and author. Others put their initials inside the books or write something on the outside of the book or draw a star on it. I personally like the notebook method for keeping track—less defacing and more respect for the books.

Speaking of books, I was drawn to a new book called A Happier Life, by Kristy Woodson Harvey. A young woman has the task of cleaning and organizing her grandparents’ house, which has been sitting vacant since the ‘70s. And in her efforts, she discovers hidden treasures about her grandparents and the love and happiness that was shared in the house. Let’s face it, reading about a happier life is almost always a good thing. Without giving too much away, I simply advise you to visit the Sun Lakes Library and check the book out. It’s not on the best sellers list, so I can’t promise when it will be available, but there is always a good read available.

The last couple of books that piqued my interest have been about houses and their stories. Is this a coincidence or is this a new genre—houses and the stories they tell?

Happy reading!
