Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Lessons

After teaching intermediate bridge lessons the past several years (the hardest card you will ever play! In search of the golden fit, LSD), expert bridge teacher David Zapatka is returning this fall and winter with six new topics over eight weeks.

Intermediate classes – Double Trouble – October 28 and November 4. Lebensohl – November 18. Four-Way Transfers – December 2.

Advanced classes – Losing Trick Count – December 9 and 16. Smith Echo – January 13. A Switch in Time/Obvious Shift Signals – January 20.

All lessons will be given at the Risen Savior Lutheran Church from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday mornings. Each session is $10. Free handout material will be distributed with each lesson. Attend as few as one class or as many as all the classes.

There is no need to reserve a place but for handout planning and to receive class descriptions, please contact David Zapatka at 480-802-0954, (press one to bypass the no solicitation announcement) or [email protected].

Bridge Practice Study Group

Patricia Crowle

Are you a beginner to intermediate bridge player who would like to brush up on your play in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere? Or have you played before but have gotten a little rusty and need to refresh your memory? In this group we discuss proper bidding and proper play as we play out the hands. Table talk about the hands is expected. Winning is not as important as finding the right bid and the right way to play the hand.

Bring your crib sheet ad favorite bridge instruction book for reference. Many of us will be using Audrey Grant’s books and bidding key. This is a study group not really a class. You do not need to come with a partner. You do not need to call before you come. If we have an odd number of people, then some of us watch the play or give advice. We also rotate players so everyone has a chance. Learning is the important point in this group.

We meet on Friday mornings from 9:00-11:30 a.m. in Room A-3, the Men’s Card Room in the Cottonwood Activity building. If you are interested in this group, please join us on Friday morning. Do bring a deck of cards. You might also like to bring score sheets and/or bidding boxes.

For more information please call Patricia Crowle at 406-581-4566 or email [email protected]. Hope to see you there!
