Sun Lakes 199ers Duplicate Bridge

Karin Hansen

Great fun was had by all during the month of March as Director Maria Davis taught the group about how to bid with “big” hands, how to respond and how to find a slam. The morning game was set up to provide an opportunity to practice actually bidding and playing those types of hands. Needless to say, there were lots of big scores!

The Thursday morning group is continuing during the summer months, and new members are always invited and encouraged to attend. Please plan to arrive by 8:00 a.m. for a prompt start at 8:15 a.m. The cost is $6 for Sun Lakes Bridge Club members and $7 for all others. The group plays duplicate Bridge following ACBL rules with a director present to run the game. Assistants are also available to answer individual questions about bidding and play during the session. The game ends by 11:00 a.m. ACBL master points can be earned by winning pairs who are registered ACBL members. Coordinator Anne Newman ([email protected]) can answer any questions about participating in the Thursday morning group. This fun and low-key atmosphere provides great learning and playing experience for all those interested in duplicate Bridge. Partners are suggested but not required – newcomers are welcome! Games are held at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 23914 S. Alma School Road, unless otherwise announced.

Tuesday and Thursday Non-Life Master Games:

The Sun Lakes Bridge Club offers a sanctioned non-Life Master game for intermediate and novice players with under 500 points on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. at Risen Savior along with a regular open game. Partners are required for these games. It is suggested that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the game in order for directors to seat you properly. This is a great level of play and a comfortable game for those who don’t wish to play in the Open field of play against expert and advanced players.
