Our Fall Session wrapped up just before the holiday season with the Camp Hilby-sponsored team capturing the Sun Division title and the Young Home Team winning the Lakes Division Championship. Manager Ron Carmichael’s Campers finished with a 10-4 record, edging the Redeemed Team and Wolfe & Associates squads, which both finished at 8-8. Spooner PT brought up the rear at 6-10. In the Lakes Division, Manager Gary Hillabolt’s Young Realtors finished with a sterling record of 12-4. First Response Roofing was second with a 9-7 mark, while A-1 Golf Carts went 9-9 and Robson Reserve struggled to a 4-14 record.
George Siegele topped the Sun Division in average with a .792 mark. The remainder of the top 10 hitters were Don Long (.785), Bill Davenport (.772), Barron Leibert (.767), Marty Hobby (.764), Jon Hendrikse and Joe Schappert (both at .750), Frank Scarpelli and Brian Denham (both at .738), and Mike Aldridge (.720). Siegele also tied with Gino Fiasche for the league lead in homers with 17. Don Long (15), Barron Leibert (11), and Brian Denham (10) joined them in the double-digit hierarchy.
Lakes Division batting leaders were Jay Yoakum (.877), Bob Molter (.785), Doug Warwick (.773), Dennis LePore (.738), Doug Freisen and Dan Malachuk (both at .738), Kelly Anderson (.720), Mike Willits (.719), Dick Bleich (.717), and Rene Valliere (.703). Yoakum also led the division with five long balls.
Our Winter Session started on Jan. 6 and runs through mid-February. The regular season is followed by the Winter Session Tournament during the week of Feb. 24. Up-to-date standings and stats can be found on our website at www.sunlakessoftball.com.
