The monthly wine tasting for Cheers members was held at Laurie Starr’s home; 26 people attended this very popular event. The wine theme was organic wines which seemed to be popular that evening. Along with some great food brought by the guests, the evening was very pleasant even with the warm outside temperatures still in September. Be sure to sign up early for this event; depending on the size of the host’s home often only 20 or less people can be accommodated for the tasting. Signup is at the Cheers bulletin board at every Thursday social at the Oakwood Country Club.

The 2014 year is quickly coming to an end, holidays are coming up and many of our members are returning from vacations and extended visits to escape the hot Valley temperatures. Signups for the Holiday Party on December 3 are now on the bulletin board. Laurie Starr has agreed to again coordinate with the 60 Plus group for Cheers. Let her know soon if you plan to attend and please have your $40 check per person ready for her when you sign up! This is always a great way to end the year; festive mood, good food and great music with Thaddeus Rose playing for our dancing pleasure.

Cheers Singles is always open to new ideas, new members and always a fun environment. Weekly socials are held at the Oakwood Country Club at 4:00 p.m. on Thursdays and that is the place to find out about membership; see the welcome table located at the entrance of the Lounge. The bulletin board shows coming events for you to enjoy. We encourage you to meet new friends and join this fun group of singles, you’ll be glad you did! We’re open to all single residents from Sun Lakes, SunBird and Springfield; membership is $20 yearly – a small price to pay for the fun we have. Join us!
