Chess Club

Doug Shields

Have you ever thought about learning to play chess? If you have, then you’re not alone. Chess is one of the oldest and most written about games in human history.

It is estimated that over 800 million people around the globe actively play chess. With such a rich history and huge following, there is simply no time like the present to take up this amazing game, which not only engages your brain but may even help protect it against cognitive decline. When you add the social element of a club setting, chess provides you with a healthy “tonic” that continues to be beneficial at any age.

Did you know that the Sun Lakes Chess Club offers free chess lessons for anyone interested in taking up the game? We host a free, one-hour session (a $75 value) on the first Saturday of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. All are welcome!

Our next lesson is happening on Saturday, June 7. If you’d like to join us, simply show up at Cottonwood Country Club in Sun Lakes, Room A-8, before 10 a.m. and get ready to learn something new and exciting!

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Rick Whitney at 425-232-6787 or email him at frwhitney53@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you!
