Cabs for Christ is a new pilot program at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church that offers free door-to-door service to those who are homebound or have no transportation to church. During the month of December, Sun Lakes UMC has contracted with Acme Cab Co. to offer individuals in the Sun Lakes area free transportation to their Christmas Cantata and Christmas Eve worship services as well as their Saturday and Sunday worship services.

“For a long time, we have been concerned about folks in the Sun Lakes area who would like to come to church, but have no way to get there,” stated Associate Pastor Tracy Perry. “We are very excited to present this new program, Cabs for Christ, during the holiday season when the church offers so many opportunities to celebrate the glories of Christmas,” she explained. “We have a great partner in this venture, Ron Mills, president of Acme Cab Co., and we look forward to making this a very special holiday for those who haven’t been able to participate in these events as much as they would like,” she added.

To take advantage of this new free service, call the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church office at 895-8766 and make a reservation. A cab company representative will call you to confirm your reservation. When the day arrives, an Acme Cab Co. driver will come to your door and drive you to the church. After the service, your driver will be waiting to pick you up and take you home.
