On April 9 and 11, the annual Oakwood Cottonwood Home and Home Tournament was played on each club’s course. On April 9, the two-man teams from Oakwood and Cottonwood competed on the Oakwood Golf Course. They played a team scramble, and one point was given for the front and back and total scores. After the matches, a lunch was provided for all the players in the Oakwood clubhouse. At the end of the first day, the Cottonwood team held a slight lead. On April 11, the same competition format was used by the teams on the Cottonwood Golf Course. A lunch was provided for all the players at the Cottonwood San Tan Ballroom. When the results from both days’ competition were tallied, the Cottonwood team was victorious. Everyone seemed to enjoy the competition, regardless of the outcome.
On April 20, a little different tournament was held. It was a 3 Clubs and a Putter competition. Each player chooses only three clubs from their bag to use the entire round. This made for some interesting situations, but it’s surprising how many competitors shot similar scores to their normal game.
