The month started with the annual Home and Home competition on Dec. 4 and 6 between Leisure World and the men of Cottonwood. Forty-two two-man teams from each men’s group competed in matches on Leisure World’s course on the 4th and at Cottonwood on the 6th. Leisure World hosted a luncheon before the afternoon matches. The CMGA provided lunch and refreshments after play on Saturday. The men of Leisure World had a good day on their home course and held a 44.5 to 36.5 lead. The men of the CMGA played very well on their home course and went on to win the competition 97 to 68. The Leisure World Cup was returned to Cottonwood after last year’s defeat and will be contested again later this year.
On Dec. 13 the Support Your NFL Team Low Net event was held. Players were encouraged to wear their favorite NFL teams colors. Twenty-four of the 32 NFL teams were represented. The players representing the New Orleans Saints won the event, with those representing the Detroit Lions finishing second.
On Dec. 20 a four-man team competition was held with 2 net scores from the team used for scoring. Twenty-eight teams played, with the lowest team net score winning.

Third Place Team: Steve Lowe, Marty Oerter, Jim Grube, Bob Schaedel
On Dec. 27 an ABCD four-man team was played using 1 gross and 2 net team scores being used. Teams were formed by the Pro Shop staff to equalize the team handicaps.

Second Place Team: Steve Bennett, Ray Serres, Jeff Sedlack, Terry Dunn
Third Place Team: Brett Johnsen, Ralph Casale, Bob Lewis, Mike Schniepp
January events included the Ace of Aces Qualifier, the Member/Member two-day competition, a Pick Your Partner team challenge with the use of alternate shot and a select a drive, the Presidents Cup Qualifier, and an ABCD team selected by the Pro Shop with a 1-2-3 net score per team.
