Overseeding took place on the Cottonwood and Palo Verde golf courses, so many of our community’s golfers played other courses in the area, including Sun Lakes Country Club and Oakwood Country Club. Two Beat the Pro events were played in October. The Oct. 5 Beat the Pro event was played on Cottonwood golf course. The Pros and their partners didn’t fare so well, so many of the teams posted better scores. The Party on the Patio after the competition was enjoyed by all the players.
Another Beat the Pro event was held at the Palo Verde golf course on Oct. 26. This event teamed two players from Cottonwood and two players from the Palo Verde Men’s group. There were 26 teams, and the Pros team fared much better. Only 8 of the 26 teams were able to better the score posted by the Pros. A party was held off the tenth tee with pizza and refreshments provided by the Men’s groups.
The November schedule included a variety of events.
November 2: The Ace of Aces qualifier but with a twist. It used a Stableford scoring format by flights.
November 9: ABCD with each flight having assigned holes for scoring. The holes were selected as the competition unfolds.
November 14 and 16 were a Home and Home competition versus Sun Lakes. It was a two-man scramble format with teams selected by similar handicaps. Lunch was served after each day’s play at the respective clubs.
November 23 was an ABCD tournament using an O.N.E.S. modified format.
November 30 was an Ace of Aces Qualifier using a Quota Points format.
