Community Blood Drive in Sun Lakes November 20

On Thursday, Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Edward Jones Financial Advisor Stephen Phair will host a community blood drive in the parking lot of his office, located at 9666 E. Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. This marks the third blood drive organized by Phair and his team, a tradition that has quickly become a meaningful way to give back to the Sun Lakes community.

Phair emphasized the impact these events can have: “It’s such an easy way to give back. Every single donation has the potential to save up to three lives. We love doing this, and we’re proud to be part of such a generous community.”

The timing of this drive is particularly important. The need for blood donations spikes during the holiday season, as accident rates increase and medical procedures continue, while donations often decline due to travel and busy schedules. According to the American Red Cross, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds. Despite this constant need, less than 3% of the eligible population donates blood each year.

One donation may seem small, but the collective impact is massive. Every pint of blood collected is separated into red blood cells, plasma, and platelets—each of which can help different patients, from accident victims to cancer patients undergoing treatment. That’s why organizations like Edward Jones, along with dedicated community leaders like Phair, play a vital role in keeping donation drives active and visible.

Statistics highlight the urgency:

• Nearly 30,000 units of blood are needed daily across the United States.

• A single car accident victim may require up to 100 pints of blood.

• Platelets, essential for cancer patients, have a shelf life of just five days, making continuous donations critical.

Sun Lakes residents and surrounding community members are encouraged to sign up early to secure their appointment slot. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows.

Phair, who has deep roots in Chandler and Sun Lakes, believes community service is part of his responsibility, both as a financial advisor and as a neighbor. “Blood drives are proof that when people come together, small actions make a huge difference,” he said.

Those interested in donating on Nov. 20 can contact Phair’s office for more details or visit the American Red Cross website to schedule an appointment.
