Computer Booters #1 hit of the season

That’s correct! Our club hit expectancies for its first gathering of the season out of the ball park. What a joy to see many members and the nine quests: Monte Post, Margie Saathoff, Ormal Saathoff, Teri Bitler, Lucille Prestie, Karyl Garbow, Jean Guthrie, Melinda Eshpeter and Mike Canterbury attending.

It’s realized that most everyone is extra busy these days winding down from all of their spent summer activities and we were so pleased to all of you that took the time to be there.

What an informative packed meeting it was. Allan Levy, the club’s Technology Director, gave members the heads up about any extremely malicious computer virus that comes onto our computers while looking innocent. Its danger is so terrific that people getting caught with it have had to change their credit cards and bank accounts. By attending the club’s meetings we can learn of these monstrous security evils; recognize and rid ourselves from them.

Many of the club’s guest speakers also address the concerns of security, privacy and safety in computing. Mr. Tully, Senior Manager of Security for Orbital Science Corporation, spoke on these very issues. Scary is a word that can be tagged with even innocent issues but having it connected to our computers which we’re becoming dependent on for work or play is atrocious. What a relief it was to hear about some of these hazards and what we can do to prevent or mend its’ corruption.

Bill Tully passed along such information concerning civil customers. He was the major sensation.
