Kc Coller, Publicity Director
April had another successful Computer Booters meeting attended by members and several guests: Ina Thomson, Cindy Carlson, Paul Newendyke and Jean Guthric. Guests are always welcome!
When entering the meeting room Nona Hove will give you a ticket that may have the winning numbers for one of the evening’s door prizes. These are awarded at the end of the meeting.
Allan Levy, a much involved club member, gave his researched up-to-date information concerning computing. These updates are much appreciated as they help keep the rest of us members on our toes.
Next Don Cook, a returning and much welcomed guest speaker, kept our attention with his delivery about the GPS (Global Positioning System). Just when we think we’ve heard all about its technology more arrives. He explained how the GPS is used in more than getting from place to place. It’s also used in “tracking” (wild life, equipment, mapping or people), “timing” (synchronization, races or motion pictures) “telecommunication” (telephones, 911 location) agriculture, aviation, rail and environment just to list a few. With so much going on in this field of computing and being explained by a pro it is easy to see why Don kept us listening. It’s sometimes difficult to envision how one object can be so useful in major parts of our living. His presentations always bring surprises to us about our world of technology.
Bringing such speakers routinely to our club members is one of the best of many reasons to become a club member.
We hope you attend the April 5 general meeting. It promises to be another very interesting night. You may be assured there is another great pro speaker scheduled to tickle our computer interest.
