Thanks to the generous donations of used computers by Sun Lakes area residents, Allan Levy refurbished and delivered 16 computers to Arizonans for Children. Allan was assisted in this effort by the local computer club Computer Booters. Computers also have been donated to handicapped children and Computers for the Blind.
Arizonans for Children, Inc., incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, exists to facilitate opportunities and provide effective solutions to alleviate hardships and improve the fragile lives of the abused, abandoned, and neglected children in foster care. It is a tragedy in this present time that far too many children continue to find their well-being jeopardized. As of July 2019, there are over 13,400 children in foster care in Arizona. While removing children from their dangerous family setting provides needed safety, entering the foster care system does not assure a “normal childhood.” This challenging journey often involves multiple moves, inconsistent caregiving, and emotional trauma stemming from feeling helpless and isolated.
The president of Arizonans for Children said, “We are very thankful to the residents of Sun Lakes for their generous donation.” Since it is nearing tax time, residents of Arizona can also donate money directly and take a foster care tax credit for monetary donations (see your tax advisor, as this is not tax advice).
Allan disassembles the computers and electronically cleans the hard disk. If the computer is unusable for any reason, the hard disk is physically destroyed, and various components are saved for future use, memory, power supplies, etc. Thus, this is a safe way for residents to dispose of their old computers. Printers, keyboards, and mice, as well as monitors, are also needed.
The Arizonans for Children was also able to build a computer lab for the children using donated computers. The current group of computers will be used in group homes for children to do schoolwork and computer training.
Please contact Allan at 301-503-1387 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to donate any computers or components. If you wish to donate money, contact Arizonans for Children, Inc. directly.
