Connections – the intersection between food, spirituality and community

Pastor Vernon Meyer

Join us on Wednesday, October 4, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Sun Lakes Chapel Center, 9230 N. Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes. The topic will be St. Francis, Creation and the Sweetness of Companionship, Celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

In the Canticle of the Creatures, written in the 13th century, St. Francis of Assisi praises God for all the various creations and creatures and names them as companions on the journey of life. St. Francis embraced creation with an open spirit and a profound respect for life. We live in a time when the environment is under assault, and climate change is a very controversial topic of discussion. This month’s Connections will focus on the example of St. Francis and his view of the sacredness and holiness of creation and the challenges of shaping an environmentally-friendly community. Our foods for this evening will be a variety of sweets and desserts prepared by the community and will not be a full meal. So, if you have a favorite sweet or dessert, bring it to our gathering and conversation. We will meet at the Sun Lakes Chapel Center, 9230 N. Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248
