Cottonwood Ladies Golf Association

We have finally reached October! Yea, yea! The “hot” dog days of summer did the best they could to reign in the intrepid ladies who experience excruciating conditions to play. Amazon has made a veritable fortune supplying a variety of wares to make the 18-hole trek survivable. Rechargeable fans, golf cart shade covers, freezer burn-resistant clerical-like stoles, and several options for “cool necking” have become de rigueur for CLGA ladies.

Thanks to Nancy Hermanson and Mikki Rydell for supporting the creation of games, payouts for birdies, etc., for our small summer group. Be sure to thank these ladies and so many others who contribute their time and effort to create the atmosphere for a fun club experience. In addition, volunteer to help out. These things don’t just magically happen without leadership and membership involvement.

Whereas in many of our home origins the spring season is the time of renewal and regeneration, here in the desert, it is the fall season that we experience such rebirth. Our snowbird friends will return, so we will renew precious relationships. We will catch up on news of weddings, births, graduations, etc., of children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. We will share travel experiences and other significant life events. We have had several among our membership who have survived hip, shoulder, and knee arthroplasty, rhinoplasty, and various ablations in an effort to remain active in our pursuit of pars, birdies, and eagles. Maybe we should have a contest to match procedure to member.

It is also time to renew our annual golf membership and our club membership. League dues are $65 plus optional Ringers and CADG membership of $5 and $8, respectively. You can save $5 on league dues if you pay online before Nov. 1. The Arizona Golf Association takes care of our handicap and is $45. You can also save $5 by paying these online before Nov. 1. Check our website, cottonwoodwga.azgolf.org, every week!
