Let me tell you about how much fun we had this spring with our Women’s Tennis League. Every Monday morning we would meet at the courts excited to see our friends, exchange pleasantries, find our court mates and chit chat while warming up to begin the matches.

Each player has her own unique style of playing and it is exciting to see smiles on all our faces with anticipation of competition. We started the season with 22 gals: Anita Frindel, Pat Davidson, Susie Dunnm, Andi Jeneck, Carol Trentadue, Gwen Luca, Tammy Knight, Heidi Henry, Toni Reider, Neda Mead, Barbara Ludwig, Teresa Hermsen, Sandy Casale, Joanne Dunn, Susan Garman, Julia Rominan, Adriana Michael, Pat McRoberts, Renee Hanson, Susan Aparicio, Judy Rogers and Dian Bromley. A big thank you to our subs Karin Hermann, Joanne DeHaan, and Judy Mayer who filled in when needed.

By the end of eight weeks, thirteen ladies remained in town to finish the season. On the last day of play, we enjoyed a delightful luncheon at Cottonwood Restaurant and celebrated our winners.

Congratulations to our first place winner, Heidi Henry with 98 wins, second place winners who tied with 85 wins, Gwen Lucas and Tammy Night. Again this season we kept track of most Aces and Double Faults (DFs). If you know anything about tennis, you understand that the person with most aces is probably going to have the most double faults and those two titles (as usual) went to Carol Trentadue with 10 Aces and you guess how many DFs.

On our last day of play, the ladies vie for Queen of the Court. This time, two girls tied for the title, Julia Rominan and Joanne Dunn. I’m thankful for having the opportunity to organize such a lovely group of women and look forward to playing tennis with them throughout the hot Arizona summer.
