Our own Niners’ Sheila Axtman and Laura Carothers were the big winners at the State Medallion Tournament in January. Although they were placed in the second flight, they won the overall Championship! Cementing that low score, Sheila got a birdie, which was celebrated by all the members at our Jan. 16 meeting. The four rounds played to select next year’s competitors will have been completed by this publication, but as of my deadline, it’s still an unknown.
On Feb. 27, the Niners hosted the Cottonwood 18ers for nine holes of fun golf. The weather was beautiful, and we finished up on the Pro Shop patio with Margaritas, wine, and snacks. No team winners score-wise, but every group had fun.
March 12 was our famous Member/Guest Tournament. Tune in on the next Splash for photos and fun facts. April 9 will be our final brunch/business meeting. There will be awards for all the accomplishments and volunteers who have made this golf season such a success! The brunch is only $10, and mimosas and Bloody Marys will be available at a cash bar. There is still time to sign up members, if you hurry. Speaking of cash, our new format for weekly golf winners is 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place on the front and back nine paying out $10, $8, and $6. Including lots of ties, most weeks there are more than two dozen winners and more than $200 given in Pro Shop chits. Our club is all about fun, but winning a little moolah is fun, too!
