The Cottonwood Men’s Golf Association had a very busy March. It started with an Ace of Aces Qualifier on March 2. There were five flights with the Low Gross and Low Net players qualifying for the Ace of Aces tournament held at the end of the year.

A Ryder Cup formatted two-day tournament was played on March 9 and 10. The Blue Team was headed by Cottonwood Pro Mark Liebfried, and the White Team was headed by Cottonwood Assistant Pro Travis Butler. Each team had 35 additional golfers. It was a hard-fought competition which was won by the White Team 86.5 points to 75.5 points. A lunch on the patio followed the second day of competition which was enjoyed by all the golfers.
The Annual Member/Guest Tournament was held on March 16 and 17 with a lunch in the ballroom after play on the 17th. A Calcutta auction was held on the evening of the 15th with spirited bidding on the many two-man teams playing. There were five flights playing a challenging varied format. The format for the first day was the first nine holes were pick a drive and the second nine were alternate drive. The second days’ format was one net the first nine holes and two net the second nine. The team flight winners were: Flight 1: Chris and David Reap, Flight 2: Terry Wilson and Sheldon Butler, Flight 3: Ron Sarnicki and Tom Swicker, Flight 4: Leonard Streit and Bruce Clark, Flight 5: Tim Fettis and Bruce Medhurst
The March 23 tournament was called a Mish/Mash. It was a team event with each six holes using a different format. There were no flights, so the results were based on the overall team scores. First place was a three-way tie at a score of 56: Phil Carlson and Earl Whiteman, Fred Smith and Steve Martz, Steve Cabe and Dan Paxton
The March 30 tournament was a Quota Points tournament. Scoring was based on points accumulated by hole scores. Eagles were 8 points, birdies were 4 points, pars were 2 points, bogeys were 1 point and anything higher was a zero. It was a flighted event.
