Cottonwood Tennis Club Held Annual Can-Am Tournament

Barb Jorgensen

This tournament isn’t just a contest of tennis skills, but one of many, and all in good fun! Which country makes the best drink? USA’s Bloody Mary vs. Canada’s Caesar. Who wears the most patriotic clothing, and who can sing each other’s anthem the loudest?

Chef Jeff Villareal treated nearly 100 participants to a fabulous lunch, and delicious specialty desserts were provided by our Canadian members. The day started with mimosas provided by Fran and Steve Nolan, which helped to ease the rain delay.

At the end of the day, no one is totally sure who “won,” but we have to say that everyone who participated or spectated was treated to an awesome day!

Thanks to the organizing committee of Jeff Donald, Mike Burdett, Susan Hood, Garnet Jones, and our ringleader Sylvia Page for a warm, engaging, and (somewhat) competitive event!
