Cottonwood Women’s Extended League ran from the beginning of April through mid-May with cool temperatures for this time of the year.
We were very fortunate, because the temperatures never got over 80 degrees as it had done in the past several years.
Our Spring League is very popular due to the fact that many ladies are still here in April and May, and this league is a little less serious and it is organized in a round-robin format where you are playing for yourself rather than with a team. We had the strongest group of ladies this year than ever before, and the scores were very competitive. Because of the way it was organized this spring, we had more than one first place, second place and third place winners. The first group of winners were Kim Schmuck taking first place, Ollie Johnson taking second place and Anita Frindell taking third place. In the second group of winners were Karin Herrmann in first place, Kim Schmuck in second place and Ollie Johnson in third place.
Other strong contenders in the league where Susan Aparicio, Sherri Butler, Joyce Recupido, Wanda Johnson, Sandra Labute-Discoe, Kathy Moliter, Nadine Sutter, Toni Reider, Susie Dunn, Mary Park, Kay Getelman, Adriana Michael, Neda Mead, Joan Osoinach, Nancy Kelley, Christy Thomas and Susan Stewart. We finished up with an ice cream social, tennis trivia and gifts for everyone – another year of great fun and memories.
