Country and Ballroom Dinner Dance November 23

John Yu

Sun Lakes Dinner Dance presents our Holiday Turkey Dance at the San Tan Ballroom on Sunday, Nov. 23. Doors open at 5 p.m., and a dance lesson for attendees starts at 4 p.m.

The music will be provided by The Breeze Trio, playing music that spans the decades, from swings of all types to foxtrots and waltzes, rumbas and tangos, and today’s pop country and line dance. The music will always focus on the pop songs of the times and be easy to listen to, danceable, and always played at a sound level that allows for conversation and dining.

What ballroom music can country dancers dance to, and what country music can ballroom dancers dance to? Answer: all of them. Country dances such as swings, two-steps, nightclub, waltzes, and cha chas have the same origins as ballroom, just later. Only the tempos and instruments may vary. That’s why both communities of real dancers go to any venue with good dance music where the beat is distinct and clear. But everyone appreciates good music, even if they don’t dance.

Admission at 5 p.m. is $10 per person or $20 per person at 4 p.m., which includes a 45-minute dance lesson. Please call or text 480-699-7334 for any questions or to reserve a group table for 8 to 10 people. Please check our website at www.sunlakes-sundaydanceclub.com for more details. As always, our friends at the SunBird Golf Resort are invited to join us, as well as the general public.
