The Gila Butte Chapter finished their chapter year at the Arizona State Conference at the end of May. It was made special with the presence of President General Ginnie Sebastian Storage, NSDAR attending the event.
Each year the Gila Butte Chapter, NSDAR honors the cadets at the Basha High School JROTC annual awards ceremony. The JROTC commander at Basha High School selects a senior and sophomore for the awards, with the winners receiving a medal and $100. Later in the month of May the Gila Butte chapter sponsored two $1000 scholarships to two deserving young ladies continuing their education at a Maricopa County Community College. Along with honoring the two graduates at Basha High School, the chapter recognized a student from Perry High School and Basha High School with a Good Citizen Award and $100 each. The Good Citizen Award is given to deserving students who have shown leadership, service and patriotism.
The chapter took part in the last welcome home ceremony for the Honor Flight until they resume in the fall.
At our Spring Luncheon we installed our new Regent, Rebecca Donatelli, the new Executive Board, and inducted new member Joan Carlisle.
