Since Sun Lakes has been designated a Dementia Friendly Community, many Sun Lakes residents have taken the Dementia Friend Info class. The Info Session helps in understanding dementia and how to best help friends, neighbors, and associates living with it. There are still many neighbors in our community who have not yet been educated. We would love to help!
Dementia is an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms associated with a decline in memory of other thinking skills, severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities.
Join us by learning more about Dementia Friends at March’s upcoming information session, and you can help spread awareness. The Dementia Friendly Info Session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Posse offices located at 9531 E. Riggs Road in Sun Lakes.
Each session lasts one hour and explains the five key messages and helps attendees understand Dementia Friends and what it means to be one. The goal is to help community members understand dementia, become less intimidated by interacting with people living with it, and learn small ways they can make a difference for people living with dementia.
