A free program called “Dementia and the Brain” is being presented at Sun Lakes UMC on Thursday, January 19 from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The program is part of the ongoing “Grab a Plate and Educate” health and wellness series offered at SLUMC.
The presenter will be Dr. Andrea An who is on the stroke team at Chandler Regional Medical Center and a founding partner of Neurology Associates of the East Valley. Dr. An earned her medical degree at New York Medical College and is a board certified neurologist.
Dr. An will be discussing what a healthy brain looks like vs. an unhealthy brain; what to look for if changes in the brain are happening; and what happens to the brain when dementia sets in.
The program, which is open to the community, will be held in the church’s Lindsay Hall. A box lunch will be served. The event is sponsored by Copper Creek Inn Memory Care Community, Koelsch Senior Community and Neurology Associates of the East Valley.
