The Sun Lakes Democratic Club will hold its next meeting on Monday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 N. Sun Lakes Blvd.
Please join us as we welcome our speaker, Sharon Thomas, a candidate for the Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction. Sharon is a native and lifetime resident of Arizona. She and her family lived in St. David, Arizona where Sharon raised her two children. She has been an activist and political leader for over two decades and a teacher for the past 10 years, teaching at all levels from kindergarten through college. She currently teaches high school English, writes curriculum and trains teachers. Sharon now lives in central Phoenix.
Before becoming a teacher, Sharon worked in corporate business management and owned a small business in Sierra Vista. She has an Associate of Arts degree from Cochise College, a Bachelor’s degree in Education from ASU and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Education at ASU and a Master’s degree in Education Leadership and Administration at Grand Canyon University.
Please bring non-perishable food items to the club meetings for the Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Collections take place in the west parking lot from 6:30-7:00 p.m. We also have a box at the north entrance of the Sun Lakes Sunset Grill lobby. Thanks for your generosity. Keep up the good work. Total donations collected for the year are in excess of 830.5 lbs. food plus $115 cash.
Club meetings are held the second Monday of each month. Everyone is welcome; refreshments are served.
