The October meeting of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Navajo Room of Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N.
The meeting will feature two candidates for very important offices for the 2018 election, the U.S. Senate and the Arizona Corporation Commission: Deedra Abboud and Kiana Sears.
Deedra Abboud is a democratic candidate for U.S. Senate. Deedra is a Phoenix-based attorney and founder of the leadership consulting firm, the Global Institute of Solution Oriented Leadership. She is highly respected for her community leadership and advocacy.
Kiana Sears is a current school board member for the Mesa School District. She is a candidate for the Arizona Corporation Commission 2018 election. The Arizona Corporation Commission regulates utilities like Pima Utility, the water source for Sun Lakes residents. Kiana is a former staff worker for the Arizona Corporation Commission and knows the responsibilities of this regulating commission.
The Sun Lakes Democratic Club collects non-perishable food items for Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Please bring your tax-deductible contributions to the drop-off area in the west parking lot from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ask for a receipt. Correction: The club donated 55 pounds of food and $63.00 cash for July and 58 pounds of food and $80.00 in cash in August. The totals for the year, so far, are $940.50 of food and $427.00 in cash. We appreciate all you do.
