Welcome May here in Sun Lakes. We certainly have much warmer weather, allowing the heat-loving plants to rejuvenate and provide their own special beauty this spring and summer. The birds, rabbits, and, yes, wild horses are energized and enjoying their freedom to fully come alive and enjoy nature in all its glory. We artists can preserve a moment in time by creating drawings, paintings, collages, and all forms of artistic expression of nature that especially speaks to us. You can do that in a supportive and fun club that has been around for many decades, the Desert Artists Club, or DAC.
The DAC meets each Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Cottonwood Ceramics Room (A-8) in the courtyard across from the library. We come together to paint, draw, etch, whatever you enjoy doing. We visit, encourage, and share creativity with fellow artists.
Any artist or wannabe artist living within the three HOAs in Sun Lakes is able to join. Each artist brings their own supplies and works in their own medium. If you are new to Sun Lakes or new to joining an art club, feel free to stop by any Tuesday (the best time is 3:30 to 5 p.m.) and see what we are all about. The DAC is a casual club with no dues or regular meetings. We meet all year long and occasionally have social gatherings with a potluck and Share Your Art events. We have a lending library for members with wonderful instructional books and inspirational materials. You may pop in or contact me for further information at [email protected] or call 480-745-2198 and leave a message and phone number.
