Welcome November and all our friends who are returning to enjoy the beautiful weather here in the Valley. Besides the weather’s draw (no pun intended), artists in our community of Sun Lakes come together to share their enthusiasm and love of art with friends they have made over the years. It is that gift of friendship and shared interest that members of the Desert Artists Club (DAC) look forward to each week that has kept this two-decades-long club thriving.
The DAC meets each Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Ceramics Room (A-8) in Cottonwood, across from the library. We are a casual club with no regular meetings or dues. We bring our own supplies and work in our mediums of choice, some of which are watercolor, acrylic, oil, colored pencil, mixed media, and pen and ink, to name a few. Some members are beginners, some are professional artists, and some have taught art, but all are interested in continuing to learn, explore, and inspire each other to be brave and try something new. We are a fun group, and residents of any of the three HOAs of Sun Lakes are eligible to join our club. As a member, you will have access to art books and other materials to borrow, occasional email reminders and notices of upcoming events, and opportunities to participate in social gatherings with yummy treats and “Share Your Art” times where we bring in some of our favorite artworks to display.
If you are new to Sun Lakes or have been thinking about getting back to finding time to paint again and need a nudge to just do it, stop in any Tuesday between 3 and 5 p.m. (best time) and see what our club is all about. Feel free to ask questions or just walk around and check us out. This just might be a fit for you.
