Now that September has arrived, some of that summer heat is dissipating, but not our club’s enthusiasm. All summer, many of our artists were able to enjoy the companionship and inspiration that this longtime club has experienced over the decades. We look forward to our winter residents returning during the next few months. In the meantime, we share our insights, learn new painting techniques, and continue to grow our talents each week in the Desert Artists Club (DAC for short). We are a diverse group of artists from beginners to advanced who meet each week to create, have fun, and support each other in our artistic pursuits.
The DAC is a casual club that meets year round each Tuesday afternoon, between 3 and 6 p.m. in the Ceramics Room (A-8) in Cottonwood, across the courtyard from the library. We come together to create with other artists and work on our own projects. We bring our own supplies and work in our own mediums, some of which are watercolor, acrylic, colored pencils, charcoal, oil, and mixed media, to name a few. We have no dues, attendance requirements, or regular meetings. We do have social times with treats and include a Share Your Art where we each bring in some of our art to display. It is always a fun time.
We invite anyone interested in joining our fun and talented group to stop in on a Tuesday afternoon between 3:30 and 5 p.m. and check us out. Members will happily answer any of your questions. Sun Lakes residents in any of the three HOAs are able to join. You may also email me, Sue Sindelar, at sue.sindelar@gmail.com if you have any specific questions.
