Desert Navy Update

Richard Volpe

With the arrival of the fall season and things moving in a positive direction, the Desert Navy is planning on getting things back on track again with plans to resume their monthly meetings in October of this year. During normal times, the club would meet monthly from September up through May, and our intent is to continue monthly meetings once again starting at the normal times in October. Throughout the summer, many members continued staying in touch with weekly lunch get-togethers and were always available to provide support to anybody who had experienced any unexpected hardships during those times. Monthly meetings for the Desert Navy are scheduled for the third Friday of each month starting at 11 a.m., and are currently being held at the IHOP restaurant located in the Target Shopping Center off Arizona Avenue.

As a club, the Desert Navy continues to maintain several warehouse facilities that house an extensive assortment of medical equipment, and are happy to help anybody when an unexpected situation hits home. Among the items in storage are a variety of motorized units that are available for those who may have a need. For a more detailed description of what is available if you have an interest, please contact Rich Volpe. His telephone number is listed below. This equipment is maintained and kept in tip-top shape and is available to those who have a need.

Several club members do continue to meet on a weekly basis at the IHOP located within the Target Shopping Center off Arizona Avenue. These get-togethers are typically scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons.

The Desert Navy welcomes all veterans who served time in the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines. New members are always welcome.
